Sharing Knowledge and Improving Strategies for Qualified Medical Care for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Citizens
About the Project
The GRUNDTVIG Learning Partnership “Queer Health Care” brings together 5 European equality organisations working in adult education with the goal of exchanging knowledge and developing strategies to improve care support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people. Using the working meeting to encourage sharing of good practice examples of partnership building between equality organisations with each other and medical practitioners.
LGBTI persons, and especially trans and intersex persons still face large scale discriminatory treatment and medical assistance not acknowledging their specific needs. The available evidence suggests a pressing need to not only educate more broadly on LGBTI related health care demands and needs, but also to target medical practitioners to encourage positive engagement with the LGBTI communities across Europe.
- Providing instruments to LGBTI related organisations to improve their skills in addressing health care providers, medical students and trainees, health insurances and policy makers working in the ( from country to country varying) fields of health care systems.
- To be acknowledged about and promote the specific demands and needs of intersex citizens relating to health care
- To contribute to the development of quality life- long learning for equality organisations to promote high performance, innovation and a European dimension in promoting better quality in LGBTI related health care
