BEMIS Celebrates Burns

Wednesday 24th January 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

£22

A grand-scale multicultural ceilidh featuring Eddie Reader, Lorcan MacMathuna and Dallaghan honouring our national bard’s transcendent beliefs in human equality, kinship and conviviality, BEMIS Celebrates Burns embodies these ideals both in its performers and audience. Among the latter are members of groups funded by BEMIS, Scotland’s national umbrella body supporting development of the ethnic minority voluntary sector, which is currently involved with numerous contributions to Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017/18. These have come from communities whose countries of origin or descent include Congo, Nepal, Iran, Japan, India, Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, China, Azerbaijan and many more – and who also contribute to the goal of a modern, inclusive Scotland where diverse peoples can be united by our humanity and enhanced by our diversity.
