BEMIS’s Capacity Building program is a key element of our work which continues to be a crucial platform to empowering diverse communities at various levels. Based on our intelligence and increased demand over the years BEMIS provides focused support to community groups and excellent level of success we have had over the years and continues to provide such support and focused capacity building programs and structures that meet the needs of the sector and enable involvement of Ethnic Minority Communities in the wider decision-making process at local, regional and national levels.
What support is provided to local formal and informal groups:
- Providing direct focused support for the development of EM groups and organisations
- Engaging EM community organisations and communities in policy making process
- Influencing government policy and ensuring their active and equal participation in civic life.
- Empowering their capacity to function effectively and to achieve their individual organizational missions
- Empower local grassroots organizations to promote their local involvement and representation with the public bodies and other stakeholders ensuring voices of are reflected and recorded in the national development policy and decision-making processes.
- Lead on consultation and research work ensuring direct input from the communities
- Address pertinent local or national issues in support of the diverse EM communities
- Advocating for diverse minority ethnic faith communities and community organisation’s ensuring recognition of diversity, challenging discrimination and proactively working to change traditional thinking and practices by stakeholders.
