Scotland and Caribbean Slavery: Rethinking Glasgow’s Sugar Aristocracy, 1775-1838

Dr. Stephen Mullen is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Glasgow, having completed a PhD at the same institution in 2014. He has published a number of articles on Scotland and the Caribbean, and his first book It Wisnae Us was released in 2009. His monograph ‘The Glasgow Sugar Aristocracy in the British Atlantic World, 1775-1838’ will be published by the Royal Historical Society/Institute of Historical Research in 2018. Stephen is a strong supporter of public history initiatives, having worked on projects during Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games cultural programme and appeared at Edinburgh Book Festival and The Festival of Politics in the Scottish Parliament.
