On September 18th 2014 the eligible population of Scotland will have the opportunity to vote on the constitutional future of the country through referendum ballot. The question they will be asked is:
Should Scotland be an independent country?

On November 26th 2013, the Scottish Government released its White Paper ‘Scotland’s Future – Your Guide to an Independent Scotland‘, their plan for Scotland if we vote for independence.
In August 2014, the Scottish Government released a booklet – ‘Scotland’s Future – What Independence Means for You‘ and distributed it to homes across Scotland. You can read it (in a wide variety of languages) at the link below.
The UK Government also released a booklet- ‘What staying in the United Kingdom means for Scotland‘ which has also been distributed to Scottish homes. You can read that (also in a variety of languages) below:

Register to Vote
To vote in the independence referendum, you must be on the electoral register. To register, you will need to fill in a form and return it to your local Electoral Registration Office.
You can follow the instructions at the link below to prepare and download a form ready to be sent to your local office:
If you will be 16 on 18th September 2014, you will need to fill out a different form:
