We’re proud to announce the launch of the BEMIS & Dandelion community grants fund, for community groups across Scotland to get started with growing their own food, and celebrating with a Harvest Festival.
Dandelion is an ambitious new creative project commissioned by EventScotland and funded by Scottish Government as part of Unboxed, running from April to September 2022 that demonstrates the power of collective action in a major “grow-your-own” initiative. Dandelion invites everyone to sow, grow and share – not just food, but music, scientific knowledge and ideas. Rooted in Scotland, with an international outlook and sustainability at its heart, the Dandelion programme follows the arc of the growing season, from April to September 2022, and will culminate in hundreds of local Harvest Festivals across the country.
This September, we’re reimaging Harvest for the 21st century. Think wonky veg, giant improvised soup pots, who-can-grow-and-cook-the-best-chip competitions, live music and more. Happening in playgrounds, in gardens, car parks and anywhere else people can come together, to celebrate a year of growing unlike any other. Wherever you are in Scotland there will be a place for you to meet friends and family, share fresh, locally grown food, try new dishes and enjoy coming together as a community.
Community groups across Scotland are invited to apply for the new community grants to help create Harvest in their own communities. Grants of up to £2,000 are available to be used towards growing, sharing and celebrating this year. The Dandelion and BEMIS small grants fund is an innovative new initiative inviting people all over the country to get growing, sharing and celebrating food, music, and ideas, in and with their communities.
Commissioned by EventScotland and funded via the Scottish Government, Dandelion is Scotland’s contribution to UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.
