BEMIS Scotland in partnership with Unison, Celtic Connections and the Scottish Government are delighted to offer a new opportunity for Glasgow’s communities to programme a bespoke Celtic Connections in the Community celebratory event, with grants available of up to £1,500.
As part of your successfully funded event:
- Celtic Connections will send an artist to your celebration to perform a 30-minute set, and to host a musical workshop for a group of performers.
- This group will then perform a short set at the ‘BEMIS and Unison present Les Amazonas D’Afrique & special guests’ event in the Tramway Theatre on Saturday 25th of January.
- Please note that we expect the programme to be significantly over-subscribed. In 2020 we will fund 5 events across Glasgow.
The Celtic Connections in the Community events can involve music, song, dance or food or other cultural celebrations. We want to support exciting, innovative, diverse events that will celebrate the best of our communities but also give us an opportunity to for skilled community musicians, singers, dancers and others, who may not have had the opportunity to do so before to perform as part of this world-famous international music festival.
As part of the event, Celtic Connections will send an artist to your celebration to host a musical or singing workshop with up to 10 individual performers (musicians, singers, dancers etc.) or a larger block group like choirs, community bands, pipe bands, school bands etc.
This workshop group will then perform a 10-minute set in the first half of the ‘BEMIS and Unison present Les Amazonas D’Afrique & special guests’ show in the Tramway Theatre on Saturday 25th of January.
