We will be telling the story of our community’s history and culture in Scotland with music, song and dance and we will talk about: Where did people come from? Where did they live? Soul Food Sisters will organise a celebration of Roma culture with focus on Roma crafts, design and food. We will host paper flower making workshop, “Say hello to Roma” gypsy wagon shopper making, run a Roma cookery workshop and provide fantastic Roma nibbles and life music of Roma band too. On top of that there will be exhibition of Roma photography to accompany the event. |

The hall will be decorated all week for everyone using the hall to enjoy. We will have parties on both Monday (messy sensory play) and Wednesday (stay and play café) with Halloween theme (face painting, dressing up, Halloween activities, music, stories and food) culminating in Spooky Friday with a ghost walk (in the park adjacent to the hall) telling spooky stories of Stirling Castle (we are literally in the shadow of the castle), hot traditional Scottish food, traditional Halloween games/music and fun. |

This exhibition amongst other things is a celebration of the rich cultural history of Iraq in areas of art, design, architecture, film and song. The event will present its audience with a visual narrative of the architectural, political and rich cultural history of Iraq, captured and immortalised in the artistic format of photography. In the face of the changed landscape of Iraq, thee images are as important as any document which represent a truth through the production of irrefutable evidence. The event will help celebrate, educate and inform attendees of a forgotten past and it is our hope that the event will engender a love of art, architecture and design whether it be in relation to local settings or otherwise. The event is an opportunity to tell the story, the journey of the Iraqi people and the place from where they came from. Moreover, it is an important opportunity for all people who make up our community to come together in the spirit of celebration as citizens of Scotland in order to promote an inclusive national identity. |

Indian Community has been celebrating this festival along with other minority ethnic groups including local community members for the last 14 years. It has always been a family event and all the age groups are encouraged to participate. Youth will be targeted not only for attendance but also to take active role in socio-cultural activities. A delicious Indian Cuisine will be part of all the event.

AFECC is based in Govanhill, one of the most densely populated and deprived areas in Glasgow. We provide key services to our diverse and growing community which is comprised of individuals from many diverse backgrounds and racial and religious communities. This event will allow all of our service users to come together as a community under the roof of our ornate B listed gothic building and take the time to enjoy it as an architectural delight whilst learning about the history of the building. The event will allow for community participation and dialogue and for our building to be appreciated in a way which we feel is seldom commented on and often disregarded. Food and drink will be a key component of the event, allowing for a feast of the stomach which will complement the architectural feast of the eyes. We hope this event will allow for greater appreciation of our building and will engender greater appreciation for local architecture and likewise for the magnificent buildings both modern and historic in Glasgow and indeed throughout Scotland. |

We are planning a special open day for the community and visitors at Timespan when it is usually closed for winter. This will include museum tours, archive awareness training, activities for families (involving the launch of our new children’s activity packs), inauguration of our new virtual curing yard developed by St Andrews University, a High Tea in our Café and a panel discussion with founding members of Timespan. A family ceilidh to celebrate St Andrews Day in the evening will round off the day. Prior to the celebrations our partners at Golspie High School (Youth Development Officer) are setting up a new school band specifically for the Ceilidh. |

Interfaith Week is a festival that runs every year in November taht started in Scotland to celebrate the diversity of faiths and encourage people to learn about different faith traditions. As a part of Interfaith Week, Interfaith Glasgow hosts numerous activities and events to bring people from all faith and belief traditions together to deepen understanding and build friendships. This year we aim to build on last year’s success. We will bring together people of different ages and from different faith and belief backgrounds to celebrate religious diversity, engage in dialogue, and participate in a variety of fun and educational activities. One of the most important aspects of the day is the food, which is provided free of charge. We know that food is a great way for people to explore different cultures and this year we plan to have a ‘World Food’ table where we can ask different faith communities to contribute an aspect of the food. We will be looking for funding to cover the cost of this part of the day. |

There will also be drama performances from young ethnic minority comedians who were once asylum seekers. The event aims to bring together people from various communities to celebrate and learn of the diversity of our culture and heritage. At the centre of the event will be a workshop which will present different African Traditional Fashion designs from different parts of Africa and a story telling session linked to the origin, history, and the making of those designs.
Participants (parents and kids) will have the opportunity to work on pre-designed stencils and sketches to create their own fabrics and fashion designs based on stories from their various origins and background. It is planned that the stories and output of the workshops will contribute towards documentation on the fashions and fabrics designs of Africa. These activities will reflect on who we are and our rich cultural heritage. |

We aim to discuss about our integration in Scotland generally and for us as a football team with many players playing in semi-professional teams. We will discuss all difficulties and assess how we integrate to the Scottish way of playing the game, and learn the views of football from people from many different backgrounds.
We’ll compare how you train in Scotland and Africa as many African countries do not have the best facilities and have very similar approach in regards to training and playing competitive games as they rely more on skills, and physicality comes next. We will hear stories from foreigners coming here and playing football, hearing their experiences of integration how they experienced it (accent, mentality etc.). There will also be music, food and drink. |

An activity day to further promote integration by having our members discuss in detail what home is for each in workshops. Followed by what the community as a whole (based on members present) agree makes a place a home and then going one step further by encouraging members to express their opinions/findings in English rather than French/Lingala seeing that Scotland is now home for them.
We will then discuss music as part of the Congolese heritage highlighting the cultural similarities of Scottish heritage with regards to music as dance and music are 2 forms of arts key to the history of both nations and our aim will be to cement that knowledge in our community. The final part of the day will be a talent showcase of music and dance performances by Scottish residents originally from different countries. |

Establishing the link between Scottish Bard Robert Burns and Indian National Poet Rabindra Nath Tagore, the event is a celebration of Burns night with an Indian twist. With a presentation introducing the two National Poets followed by recitation of Burns poetry and an Indian Dance Choreographed to Tagore’s Song inspired by Scottish bard Robert Burns “Auld Lang Syne”. Food will be served after the Address to the Haggis. Scottish Live Music and Dance starts with few professional on the floor to show the Dance Moves and encouraging audience to participate. Kids will be encouraged to participate in the event either by reciting poetry along with dancing and singing. There will be lot of opportunity for networking, learning & appreciating different cultures and languages. |

A number of local Muslims will be preparing and sharing dishes which speak to their cultural background. Taking inspiration from Burns Night, these dishes traditional ‘celebration’ dishes served at times of national celebration. We will also have larger dishes from local restaurants, and centre-stage will be a Halal Haggis.
To complement the food there will also be local musicians, artists and community providing a range of engaging activities, including henna painting, calligraphy, and arts and crafts. |

Sharing some cultural food and performances that match the celebratory mood of the occasion, and reflecting the fusion of cultures that frequent the cafe. Women from the community will set a menu and prepare the food. We will celebrate Scotland’s cultural roots and characteristics as made up by the merged community of women who are the café’s life force. This evening will be a celebration of culture, diversity and our common experience as women in our community. |

Each year we stage a “Burns” night on a different theme. Last year our night was a performance of female poets “Fae The lassies”. This year we want to respect the diverse cultures of Govanhill (over 50 nationalities and languages) by having local poets and performers from around the world including Palestine, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Eastern Europe. The event title is from a Burns poem, “The Slaves Lament”. The audience will also receive a small meal of Vegetarian Haggis, Neeps and Chapatis, made by a local multi-ethnic group of caterers. |

A Burns Supper with an international twist: a dinner at Pollokshields Primary School to bring the community together in a celebration of food. Families will be invited to cook a favourite family recipe from their culture and bring it to share. This will result in a display of dishes from around the world for tasting, with dishes relating to each continent grouped together.
There will be entertainment from the school choir, and music. |

As Aberdeen has the Doric language—and many of our friends are keen to learn some—we would have some fun activities around the school learning some Doric words. |
